I don't know if you can see this. But half of this lovely tattoo is a line from my book. Holy crap! This is from the back of a student of NEG's. I think it's so cool and weird. He must be a really insiprational fucking teacher. I think I want to include it in my bio from now on. Like...her work has appeared in blah, blah, blah, and on the lower back of a young female co-ed at the University of Colorado, Denver. Or something like that. I haven't quite got the wording down yet.

that's amazing. you have a "body" of work... literally!!
speaking of body, I had a strange dream last night -- I was in a locker room with a boy about eighteen years old who was an athlete of some kind. he told me he had cancer. I said, "my body had cancer once too" and I took my fingernail and butterflied my body open from sternum to navel. Then I said, "but then I drank my blood like wine and remade my body." My butterflied body came back together. At this point in the dream I was me but I was also a hovering me, seeing this scene from the outside but thinking like from the inside. The boy was olive complected with shaved black hair. When my body came back together I said, "now you try" and then I woke up.
Finally I can post as J'Lyn.
1) That tattoo looks really painful. It's the shading that makes it so. But it's incredible and you should definitely include it in your bio. In some ways, this is comparable to a good review.
2) CMU, strange dream! It's beautiful. Oddly, in the beginning chapter of Selah's book, there's an image of the butterfly. And her book's so much about meat. There's a strange consonance here with your dream.
jbird -- I thought this too, about selah's book, which I read over the weekend and finished the night I had the dream. I think I channeled her imagination, just like for the remainder of the night I was channeling her syntax (thinking in her rhythms, that kind of thing).
you know what's weird...i hadn't really thought much about selah's title. i mean i read and dug the book. and i like the title, too. but i hadn't really THOUGHT about it until this. this butterfly meat thing.
i was kidding about the bio (maybe). but it is pretty cool. and yeah super painful. i guess it has its own sort of meat and spirit thing going on.
No, I really like the idea. Everyone's bio says, "so and so's work can be read here, here, here, and here." That's boring. You can say, "my work is a tramp stamp on someone's back."
Tramp stamp. Did you just make that up? It's good.
Wes calls it a tramp stamp. Of course he does.
